While a pandemic-induced economic downturn might not seem like the best time to launch a new tech startup, veteran entrepreneurs Derik Belair and Gavin Garbutt say the market is right where they want it as they begin test-driving their new product.

There’s a business adage that says, “You can’t manage what you can’t measure.” While this wisdom didn’t originate in the tech sector, it succinctly defines why some channel partners are more successful than others. One area where it comes into play is with software as a service (SaaS) and other cloud IT initiatives. This includes the ones business owners subscribe to, and the rogue cloud-based apps their employees procure on their own.

Augmentt’s founders, Derik Belair and Gavin Garbutt, have 35 years of combined Channel experience, most of it spent building, marketing and selling Cloud and SaaS applications to the MSP community. During that time, they have witnessed the unprecedented adoption of SaaS.

It used to be that MSPs would manage servers, desktops, firewalls, and other business and infrastructure objects for their clients. Many still do. Yet, as software as a service (SaaS) continues to proliferate in today’s changing business environment, MSPs need to be able to managed SaaS platforms as effectively as they did the servers and desktops of yesterday.

After some time away from the community Gavin Garbutt is back with a new venture. Derik Belair joins Gavin at Augmentt a SaaS application management company. Augmentt was developed to help MSPs understand SaaS usage, optimize spend, enforce security polies and improve productivity.
